Pawpaw's Phantom Call
by Janna

My great-grandfather, whom we called "Papaw," passed away two years ago. In life, he was an honest self-made man who took pride in his Cadillac. He always kept it in great condition. When Papaw died, he left the Cadillac to my grandparents. Two weeks ago, my grandfather took the Cadillac to be cleaned and detailed. On his way home, his mobile phone began to ring. He was unable to answer it in time, but he decided that it was probably my grandmother calling. Since he was nearly home, he just decided to go inside the house and see what she needed. My grandfather asked Granny if she had called, but she said no; she hadn't picked up the phone all day. They were curious about who would be calling their phone, so they turned it on and checked the log of recent calls. The phone displayed "1 Unanswered Call," with the name R. D. Wells - my great-grandfather! The time and date stamp coincided with the missed call, and the phone number it showed was my great-grandfather's old number, which has been disconnected for over a year.
