Disappearing Things
by Patrick

This happened in the first week or so of March, 2004. My ex-wife and two kids live in the same house (long story) and have lived here for about a year with no problems of any kind. Keep in mind that my ex-wife was a complete skeptic, and I have had a couple of strange experiences, but nothing like this before.

Around the third of the month, our landlord showed up for the rest of the rent; we owed him $150. I was sitting at the computer desk when he showed up and the ex-wife answered the door. She came to the desk and pulled out one bill, $100, and then the second one, a $50. I watched her. She folded them in half and walked toward the door where he waited. She took a few steps and... the $50 bill was gone. Nothing but open floor between us – it just vanished. She did not even make it to the door, so she did not drop it on the porch or anything. We later searched the house, but never found it.

At the same time, my oldest daughter was looking in a mirror in her room and saw something come out from under the bed at her. She is a teenager, but level-headed and not prone to exaggeration. She refused to sleep in the room for several days and only took to sleeping in there again after I placed a lamp in the room, which she kept on all night. This was last month and just in the last few days will sleep without it, but keeps her TV on at night for light.

The next incident happened when I went to the kitchen to make a sandwich, May 5. I had made tuna salad earlier in the day in a big bowl, only to discover we were out of plastic wrap and aluminum foil, so I put the whole bowl inside a large Ziplock baggie. I took it out of the refrigerator, turned my back to the counter I had laid the baggie on, made my sandwich and went to put the bowl back in the plastic baggie, but the baggie was gone. Not on the floor. I did not throw it away. It just disappeared.

Later that day, my youngest child, five years old, came crying to me, saying someone was calling her name in my ex-wife's bedroom, and they were "too scary to look at" – kinda spooky, but she is just a five, so I don't know if that part is true or just imagination.

Here is the really strange one. I went to make my five year old a peanut butter sandwich. I got a plate, knife, bread and peanut butter and went to the table. I put bread on the plate, put the knife in the peanut butter, turned my eyes back to the bread and it was gone! Crumbs on the plate, but no bread! I did not even turn away, just averted my eyes to look at the peanut butter.

I told this to an e-friend I have, and she said she knew some people who could help. She told them my story and they did something – sent me some good energy, and the stuff stopped happening. Only this last week did I read about disappearing object phenomena on this site, and decided to share my story with you all.
