Cemetery Visitor
by Jonny

Today I had a really weird experience at a graveyard up the street from my sister's home in Brookfield, Massachusetts. Let me give you a little background; what you are about to hear is an absolute oddity.

I have recently moved up here from my home in Florida to seek employment and help out my aging parents now living in this area. I am currently living with my sister. Up the street from her house is a small country graveyard at the very end of her street.

Myself, my sister and the two youngest of her three kids (also too went one of her pet cats following along) went for a walk up the street to the old graveyard. We walked up as it began to drizzle a bit, laughing and carrying on with her two year old and four year old. Upon reaching the barren cemetery, we went in through the gates and began to walk around looking at dates on tombstones some dating back as far as the 1850s or so. We walked down a large hill and onto a concourse that circled around back up to the main thoroughfare of the graveyard itself (circling back to the gates).

While walking along the asphalt path we looked back and saw an aqua car like a Saturn or Acura or something pass by us cautiously and pull up on the lawn nearing the turning point of the path. Driving was a middle-aged woman. She got out and began to walk over to a small headstone.

My sister smilingly said a respectful and quiet hello and the woman responded back. My two-year-old nephew innocently let out a "What'r ya doin'?!!" to the woman and the woman looked back and said, "I'm here visiting my son." (This isn't the weird part.) Then without missing a beat my nephew blurted out in an innocent tone, "Whyyyy?" My sister apologized to the woman and told her son to be respectful. It was so sad to say the least. The woman said (exact words), "It's okay, I used to be a mother too." Needless to say, we were really quite saddened by hearing that.

We walked on until we walked around the bend and behind a group of trees carrying the kid's shoes that neither of them preferred to wear as they splashed in puddles. We came back around the bend in the road and I quickly glanced over to the woman as then my nephew and niece caught my attention with something else. After a few seconds, my sister looked at me and said, "Did you hear or see her car leave?" I turned to where the woman was just a second ago and the blonde middle-age woman was no where in sight at all. I responded, "No, I didn't" to my sister's question.

She was gone and looking to the main entrance and exit (same gate) we saw no one leaving the main gate there was no other way out of the cemetery unless you pass by right where we were walking or for that matter no wiggle room at all to turn around in. We heard no engine or anything it was only a few seconds in between my seeing her out of the corner of my eye walking with some flowers or so it glancingly appeared and her disappearing. I was sure she was there and in less than five to ten seconds her and her car vanish and not using the main road. All the other paths are for pedestrians only being much narrower and do not lead to the road.

We are still scratching our heads on this one. Maybe she did leave conventionally, but there is very little evidence of it as we would have seen it most definitely being that it is a very small graveyard and everything is in eyeshot.
