Missing Time in the Kitchen
by Luci Stravato

My story may not be as spectacular or frightening as some I have read on this site, but I guarantee that it is 100 percent true, and it has baffled my husband and I for years.

Dave set the alarm for 7:00 a.m., per usual, and off to bed we went. Another ordinary evening. Early the next morning we awoke to the sound of my lab/boxer, Bear, barking her head off, which she only usually does when there is someone or something (like a neighborhood cat) lurking around the house. Dave and I got up to investigate, but before I left the room, I noted the time: 5:30 a.m. Cool, I thought, another hour and a half of sleep.

We both walked to the kitchen window, for it was the focus of Bear's boisterous attention, looked out and confirmed that no one was outside. Must have been that darn cat. We both grabbed a quick drink from the fridge and padded off back to bed. Dave had to make a pit stop, but I was more than ready to grab that hour and a half of sleep.

I jumped into bed and was just pulling the covers over myself when I noticed the time: 6:30 a.m. WHAT?! Well, although I was sure about the time, maybe I was bleary-eyed when I jumped up earlier, so I called to Dave. "Honey, did you notice the time when we got up?" "Yea, he called back, about 5:30. We have a little longer to sleep." Ok, so now I'm officially freaking out. It took an HOUR to walk to the kitchen and back?

What happened to us? I have no explanation and no information except I promise you it was 5:30 when I woke up and 6:30 when I came back from the kitchen. Weird, huh?
