Shared Haunting and Dream
by evilrain21

My first big paranormal thing that really set off my interest in the paranormal happened on Christmas Eve about 11 years ago, the night my grandfather died. It started off like every other night. My mom had just put my sister and me to bed and company had just left. All of a sudden, the vacuum in the hallway closet turned on and I figured my mom had taken it out to vacuum, but all of a sudden she came running out of my sister's room into the hall to see where the noise was coming from. She called my name and I came running out of my bed to see what was going on. She walked toward me and to the closet and opened the door, there we found the vacuum running. The downstairs apartment tenets started to bang on the floor due to the late hour and the noise, but we couldn’t manage to turn it off no matter how many times we flicked the switch, so my mom and I reached for the plug at the same time and pulled it... but it wasn’t plugged in at all! In fact, there was no socket in the closet for it to be plugged into. It startled us a lot, but we didn’t know what to think, so my mom put it in her bedroom and I went back to bed.

My mom told us that later that night while we were in bed and she was watching television that she tried to get up to go to bed but felt a heavy weight push down on her and forcing her to stay still and against the sofa and it got heavier and heavier, then all of a sudden went away. She started to feel very uncomfortable at the time, but went to bed because she had an early morning.

The next morning, after we had unwrapped our gifts, we sat down to have breakfast. We began to talk about the night before and the weird things that went on, then my little sister said she had had a weird dream. My mom and I both looked at her strangely and I said me too, as did my mom. My sister began to describe this dream to us and talked about this woman she had never met before, as she described the woman my mother and I recognized her from our own dreams that night and added to her description before my sister could finish. We had all had a similar dream that night and with a common message for my mother and sister, the woman guided each of us from outside this red door into this warm inviting house and through a hallway to a kitchen table. She was friendly and sort of warm in a way as if we knew her. She began to tell my mom and sister (in their separate dreams) that someone close to us will die soon, and that it will be hard at first but it will be all right and to be strong. That’s how their dream laid out till they woke up.

My dream went a little differently, I WAS met by the lady at he door and she did guide me in to the house and into the hallway, but instead of following her to the kitchen, I opened another door on the right side of the hallway. I went in and found something like a woodshed where piles of wood lay stacked up around the room to about my chest level (I was about 9 or 10 at the time so it wasn’t that high). I noticed a roaring wood stove against one of the walls, then all of a sudden my grandfather jumped out from behind a wood pile dressed strangely in a nice suit with an old fashioned hat on, which looked strangely out of place in that dirty room. He spoke to me, but his words sounded muffled and I couldn’t understand what he was saying to me. Then, all of a sudden, we were both sitting in front of the wood stove warming our hands and that’s how it ended.

Christmas night we got the news that my grandfather had died. (The wood shed, I was told later, was his favorite place in my uncles house where he was living at the time, he used to enjoy sitting in front of it for hours at a time staring into the fire.. I never seen the room before, not even to this day.)

A couple years later, one of my uncles had died, we were at one of my other uncles house along with a lot of other family member who gathered there after the wake and funeral, we were looking through some old photo albums of my also deceased grandmother. As one of my sisters turned the page, a picture of a woman came up, my grandmother's sister and my mother's aunt who passed on before my mother was born. My younger sister said that she recognized the woman and had a dream about her a couple month back. I also had recognized her along with my mom, but not from a few month back, she was the same woman that appeared to us in that dream so many years before when my grandfather had passed away.
