Lake LBJ Monster
by Manda

I live in central Texas. I have never see any river or lake monsters personally, but I was speaking with a friend's grandfather and he used to be a very successful oyster diver in the Colorado River. He says that about five years ago, he had an encounter with a large animal thing in Lake LBJ. I'm not for certain of exactly where or when he saw it, but he says it grabbed his leg with it's teeth in the shallow water while he was feeling around with his feet for clam shells. The monster dragged him down way out into the deep water. He had his scuba tank and such on his body, but had not yet put it on properly, and was not prepared to be taken underwater so quickly. He said that this creature finally let go of his leg and he was free to swim back to shore.

Now at first I couldn't really believe his story. But he said that some of the other men he worked with had encounters with it too. Some have claimed to have seen it in shallow water as well as the deep. Even some of the local divers have asked this friend of mine if he had seen anything "different" in the lake. They had said that there was something very large and "prehistoric." He has also seen the clams he dove for cracked in half. He said there is no animal in that lake that could be cracking them in the way he has seen them. So the animal must have big jaws.

My friend has a lot of knowledge of this sort of stuff. He has a theory that I found to be very interesting and possibly could be truthful. He has seen the hidden rivers underneath the Longhorn Caverns here in Texas. They run all the way to parts of Tennessee. And he says that people have found catfish and large snakes and such without eyes or "glowing" fish. And sometimes after large floods of these rivers, which is common here in Texas certain times of the year, some of the fish are released into our rivers and he has personally caught some strange stuff. He said he once saw a catfish with NO EYES. That's just really odd for us Texans. Anyways, he believes that anything could be down under those caverns. They go so deep into the earth and those rivers could carry ANYTHING - ANYTHING!

He thinks that this animal thing could be prehistoric and have been living in those underground river. Just the thought makes me shiver. I have been a strong believer in the Loch Ness and other such creatures for as long as I can remember. I've read numerous articles on the prehistoric Megladon and even a very interesting fictional book called "Meg." It was based on this very interesting theory that those sharks could be living in the Marinia Trench off of Japan. It goes down seven miles.
