Voice
Saved the Baby
by Barbara Stephens
Our sixth child was born in July of 1970. He was approximately five weeks old when this happened. Our four older children were in school and our 17-month-old daughter was asleep in her crib. The baby (Rob) was in a port-a-crib in the front room. I was folding clothes on the couch across the room from him. I had placed his bed in line with the archway from the kitchen/dining room to the living room so that the end of the crib was even with the doorway.
All of a sudden, I heard a voice say, "If that clock fell, it would kill that baby." I knew there was no one else in the house but the two babies (both of whom were asleep) and I, but I looked around anyway. Then I looked on the wall above the crib. There was a cuckoo clock on the wall with heavy iron weights on it. Feeling very foolish, I got up and moved the crib into the middle of the archway. I returned to the couch and resumed folding the laundry. The clock fell!
I believe I heard my son's guardian angel. It was the only way to get my attention. Thank God for him/her!
