Ghost Did the Laundry
by disco

I had never heard of "Old Hag" syndrome before I looked at this site, but I was looking for experiences that are similar to the one I had, and this is the closest I've come. A little bit of history:

From 1999 to 2002, we lived in these townhouses (upstairs and downstairs) in a decent section of town in Anchorage, Alaska. I had a one-year-old daughter and another on the way when my husband and I moved in. There had been a few things I couldn't explain while we were there (things disappearing and reappearing somewhere else -- my daughter hadn't done it -- things being turned on or done when there was no one in the room, strange smudges or orbs in all our pictures taken in that house). I had told my husband I felt like there was something there, but whatever it was I wasn't afraid of it. My husband is very skeptical and assumed I had an overactive imagination.

He couldn't explain either, though, when he had asked me to do some of his laundry one night, and in the morning, he thanked me for doing his laundry. I thought he was being sarcastic and said, "Oh, I'm sorry, I totally forgot!" He asked me what I was talking about, and proceeded to pull his freshly washed laundry out of the dryer. I didn't do it, he didn't do it, we couldn't explain it. (Hey, if a ghost is going to do my laundry, go right ahead!)

I never felt it was evil until one night when my husband and I were asleep. I saw a brilliantly bright glowing ball of light in front of my closet. It looked like it had energy or lightning around it. I thought I was dreaming, but in my dreams my room is always a little different, and this was no dream. I was terrified as I realized I was awake! I started praying really hard and I tried to move so I could wake up my husband, but I couldn't move. I tried to scream, but all I could get out was this tiny little whimper. My husband's a pretty light sleeper, and eventually he heard my whimper, and when he woke up, the thing went away and I could move again. I told my husband what happened and he thought it was just a dream, but since then (at my insistence that it really happened) I really think he believes me now. Has anyone else seen the glowing ball of light?
