Flood's Ghost
by Cameron

I live in an older house in Michigan, next to a pond. Our neighbors live around the body of water now being called: Lake Dead. There's good reason for it to be named that. When my family and I first moved in, everything seemed fine... until night-time. At night, I'd hear soft voices, and just thought they were my relatives. (The walls aren't that thick.) But then I knew something was wrong after I heard voices when I was home alone. Soft whispers came from the hallway when I was in a room, even with the door closed and the TV on I could hear the faint murmurs. And around sunset there would be noises like whooshes or wind, still heard with the window closed. Worst of all I'd hear scratches coming from the basement, as if someone were trying to dig up through the floor.

I decided to finally tell my brothers what was up, as I could no longer stand this! We took a look around and didn't find much. Then I looked into the history of the residence and found the previous owners' names. Researching the family, I found their daughter had been trapped in the basement during a flood, and that her diary was found with her body. We have already moved from the house due to its dilapidated state, and from the hauntings. That water killed the girl, and could very well be hiding more secrets.
