Voices in
the Tunnel

A couple of friends and I were messing around in an old army barracks out in the California Bay Area. There was this large drainage system below it, and we decided to investigate. The three of us were about 15, and had too much time to spare. As we got deeper in, the graffiti stopped, and it was so dark you couldn't see without a flashlight. Wind started gusting through the tunnels, and the deeper we went in, we heard low murmuring voices carrying on the sound of the wind. It was hard to make out at first, but as we crept deeper (and much more cautiously) the voices, which seemed to come and go, started seeming to be more fervent, though the words could not be made out, except for the urgency of whatever message it carried. At this point we got rather spooked and got out of there as fast as we could. When we came back sometime later, though, we never heard the voices again.
