"Don't You See Them?"
by Nitkatt

I am not too sure how to start this story as I am so confused. I moved to the home that I am living in now in February, 2000. I moved in here with my fiancé (now husband). We have two children. It started with my son, who is four years old. I was tucking him into bed one night and he said, "Mommy, I am scared of the dark." I was thinking that he was a normal four-year-old little boy. I asked him why. He told me, "I am scared because my curtains go out while In am in bed." I asked him to show me what they did and he got out of bed and pulled the curtains straight out and said, "Like this!"

At first I thought that it could have been the heating duct, which is about two feet away from that window. I thought that when the heater turned on, that they blew outwards and that was what he was afraid of. Or even the possibility of wind coming through his windows and blowing them out. I turned the heater on and they did not move. One day it was pretty windy outside, and just for curiosity, I went in his room and checked out his curtains. They were perfectly still, which outruled my theory of wind through his windows. I found that a little odd and unexplainable.

About two weeks later, he called me in his room and said that he was scared of the lights. I looked around and could not see anything. He said, "Mommy, look. There they are. Don't you see them?" I said, "No. What do you see?" He said, "They are blue, green, red and purple. Don't you see them?" I told him that when he saw them again to let me know and I will look for them.

About a week later, we were in the dining room eating lunch. He said, "There are the lights again, mommy. They are on the wall. Can you see them now?" Again, I saw nothing. I personally had weird feelings in this house prior to my son's sightings. I would see dark shadows out of the corner of my eye and when I would turn to look, they would be gone.

One day, a friend of mine came over here (her mother-in-law lives next door to me). She and I got on the subject of ghosts. I told her that she was probably going to think that I am totally crazy, and I proceeded to tell her that I thought that we have a ghost here. She looked at me very strange and said, "I can imagine why you would think that!" I had no clue what she was talking about. Of course, I asked and she told me that a man died in our house. She said that he overdosed on his medication because his wife had left him. He was apparently an older man and his wife couldn't physically take care of him, so she left, leaving him in the house by himself. I asked my friend how she heard about that and she told me that she and her husband looked at buying this house, but once they found out that the man died here, they said, "No way!"

I asked her where the man died, and she said that he died in my room. The man's son and his wife and two children lived across the street at that time and still do. I am a good friend of the daughter (she is my children's babysitter). She and I went out the other day and we got on a conversation about her grandparents. She told me the whole story. She said that she was nine when it all happened. She told me that her grandmother left her grandfather. She said that he couldn't handle being here alone, so he overdosed on his medication then proceeded to cut himself up. She said that she didn't really know what was going on at that time since she was so young, but as she got older, her parents told her the story of what really happened. She said that her mother told her that she wasn't allowed to come and see her grandfather was because there was blood all over the walls, carpet, floor, etc. where he had cut himself.

I told her about my son seeing things, and myself as well, seeing shadows and things. I told her about my son and seeing lights and all in his room and she said, "Hmmmmmm, that is where my grandfather killed himself. That was his room." Yesterday, I put my son to bed and he claimed to see the lights again. He told me this time they were in shapes of bunnies, butterflies, and benches. So that is my story. I am not sure what will become of our haunted house. The only thing that scares me is that the man who died here was apparently very abusive.
