Many Disturbances
by Cathy B.

In the apartment we are currently living in, we are experiencing more frequent incidents over the past couple of months:

  • The bathroom door will often swing shut, silently, even as you stand there beside it. We will think we left it open to find it shut, and we have seen it close many times. There is no draft, there is no motion except for the door moving, and the suite is on the cement ground floor. Once I put my foot against the door as it closed, and I could feel the firm pressure against my foot. It seemed stronger than how a simple draft should make it feel.
  • Yesterday I was in the bathroom, and felt a slight breath of air past me for the first time. I turned, hesitatingly, expecting that the door would once more swing shut. It didn't, but a running shoe on its side in the hallway about three feet away suddenly started rocking back and forth about four times. I could hardly believe my eyes.
  • One day a container "jumped" out of the bathroom cabinet, across the sink, and landed on the floor. The door to the cabinet was hardly open after, and the item had to clear the sink to fall where it had. The room had just been cleaned, there is no chance that the rarely used item had been left out on the counter to fall down by itself. There were only two people home at the time, and we were both in different rooms. I could see the bathroom from where I sat, and there was no one there. The noise when it fell was very loud and frightening.
  • Around New Year's, I was alone peeling vegetables at the kitchen counter. Everyone was out, the cat was asleep in its bed in my bedroom. The kitchen was clean, there were no obstructions in my path between the sink and the fridge. I remembered a phone call I had to make and went into my bedroom to do so. The cat was asleep where I could see her, and the family was all out, no exceptions, so there was no one home to make any mischief. I returned to the kitchen, and lying on floor not one foot from where I had been standing minutes before, was a long cylindrical plastic laundry hamper I own. It was on its side on the floor. It was a good six feet from where it would have been standing beside the washing machine. The narrow kitchen would not have permitted it to have rolled into that position if for some reason it could have fallen over by itself, it was "head first" lengthwise. The windows were all closed, and there were no fans or drafts to push the empty basket over. I left it were it had fallen as I wanted my children to see it for themselves. It was in my way and it was all I could do to get into the fridge and complete my task without picking it up and moving it out of my way. There was no way that I could have overlooked it lying there when I had been in the kitchen earlier! I felt nervous for some time after it happened, I actually had to quit my cooking and sit in the living room, with my back to the wall, where I could see the kitchen clearly as I waited for my family to return. That was the first time that the incidences had really started to make me nervous. To this time, "it" didn't seem to want to hurt us, but it seems to be trying to become more noticed.
  • Later the same night of the laundry hamper movement, my older son was standing by the counter, and I was down the hall. The tea canister dropped to the floor off the counter, and he was not touching it or near it. I saw him, and I saw the canister fall, and I know he had not made it move. A physics major, he believed when he saw that happen, but still didn't want to believe what I told him about the hamper!
  • I had a quarter drop down onto the stove in front of me once while I was cooking alone in the kitchen.
  • Last year, an article I have held onto my closet with a magnet was on the floor in the morning, upside down, with the magnet neatly centered below it. If it had just decided to slide off the metal that night, it wouldn't have landed neatly in that position. It has never fallen off since or before that incident, and it was on the cabinet when I went to bed.
  • Two years ago I lived in the suite next door to my current apartment. Our bedroom wall butts onto our old living room wall so we are still somewhat attached. In that apartment, our cat went viciously insane one Halloween, attacking us savagely. We took her to the vet, thinking her recent surgery had complications. While at the vets, she began purring and was quite content. As soon as we returned to the apartment, she went psycho again and attacked my sons again.
  • In the apartment next door, my young son had a nightmare and crawled into the side of my bed. He began dreaming again and I was fully awake when he started screaming, "A boy! A boy!" I looked over at my sleeping child, and I could see a boy child sitting up as if transparently superimposed against my son's body. I could clearly see the facial features down to the details of the child's hair cut. I was not dreaming. The image suddenly disappeared by fading right away.
  • The other night, I was woken up at 1 a.m. by the sound of breaking glass. When I turned the light on to look for what had "fallen," I saw that the light shade had come down from the ceiling lamp and had shattered everywhere. I have had a previous incident in another house where a light fixture had broken. It was an older bathroom fixture, again in the bathroom, that fastened against the wall with the glass in a "U" shape. It had shattered when the door was shut and the light was off, so there was no heat and no human interference with it and there was no force of gravity pulling it downwards. That same bathroom had another occurrence. One day we came home all together to the empty, locked, undisturbed house, to find the toilet seat removed from the hinges of the toilet and upside down on the ground about five feet away, as if flung there somehow. In that same house, the stereo would come on all by itself frequently. In another house I lived in the toilet would flush by itself, and one night I heard an uncanny inhuman yet not animalistic howling that seemed to emanate from center of the room. It made the hair stand up on the back of my neck.
  • My son has felt and heard something banging against the back of the couch when he has been sitting on it, at home alone.
  • I have heard a man speaking to me twice in my bedroom. Once it spoke my name and asked me what was happening. Another time the voice was ominous and evil sounding and said simply, "You had better find answers." Yet it left me feeling terrified. I heard these voices when I was alone and I was not asleep, although I was in my bed preparing to sleep.

Those are all the events that I can recall at this time. I do hold a full time responsible job and I am not crazy nor dishonest and am of reasonable intelligence and intellect. I have had many instances of personal psychic-type incidences, and I wonder if perhaps that makes me kind of a magnet for these types of things as they seem to have occurred in more than one residence.
