Bill, The Ghost
by James D.

When I was seven (13 years ago), I lived in a house with my mother, father, younger sister and two older brothers. My father thought it would be a good idea to convert the attic into a bedroom for my brothers. This did seem like a great idea, but shortly after that, let's say someone else moved in. The first thing to happen was on a Saturday night. We all went out to see a family member. When we left the house, all we left on was the front room's main light. When we returned, we found every light in the house downstairs on, the TV switched on, the stereo on and all the doors open. My mother put this down to her or my father leaving them on, but they were slightly shook up.

The next thing that happened was one night I was in bed and I heard a bang upstairs from the attic (now finished). I shouted up, telling my brothers to be quiet. Then another bang. I got out of bed to get my mum to tell them. When I walked downstairs, my brothers were watching TV. I asked who was in their room. They said no one was. I told my mum. She said it was the cat. Now this would have eased my mind, but I let the cat out before I went to bed. No one else in the house heard any of the bangs.

A few days later, my mum said she was awoken by crying. She checked my younger sister's room first, then she went to check my brothers. As soon as she got to the stairs of the attic, it stopped. She went up to see, but my brothers were asleep. To this day, she puts it down to them trying to scare her, but they swear it wasn't them.

More stuff like this went on for months. In the end, we called him Bill. We were never scared because we never actually saw or got hurt by him. He used to start banging and we would shout, "Bill, stop it!" and a few moments later it would. But I used to hate it in my room at night. I could swear there was someone standing there watching me, but was always to scared to open my eyes.
