Seeing
the Impossible
by Edward
I have been thinking for some time about sharing a rather strange experience that happened in the summer of 1997. I was 34 years old at the time and up until that point, had never seen an event that seemed to be beyond explanation. On a clear, beautiful night at about 10 p.m., my cousin and I were sitting on his picnic table in the yard looking into the sky to view the Big Dipper, Orion and other familiar stars after spending the day hanging drywall in his kitchen. The house next door had been empty for a few months and a new family was in the process of moving in that night. We had spoken to the new neighbors earlier and, as a result, knew they had two children, a girl about seven years of age and a boy around five. The house did not have any curtains in the windows yet and the interior of the rooms that had lights on were plainly visible. I turned to say something to my cousin and over his shoulder, I saw some movement in one of the upstairs windows.
What happened next was really weird. I saw a boy of about 14 run up the stairs, turn and look down the stairs and run past the window. His movements had a "stop and go" effect, as if illuminated by a strobe light. The light in the room was steady, but he rapidly alternated between light and dark. As strange as that looked to me, I was completely stunned to see it happen again, and again. When he ran past the window and out of sight, the exact same sequence immediately repeated itself two more times. I have never told anybody about this, but I know what I saw. I would not say I was frightened after seeing this, but it was rather disturbing to see something that you know cannot be possible.
