Personal
Vision
by Lisa S.
It was a month after my mother's death. My husband, three children and I were sitting in the front pew of our church. I liked sitting up front because it enable my children to see what was going on. When it came time (I am a Catholic) for the priest to hold up the Eucharist, I could clearly see the face of Jesus. It was something I had never noticed before, and it surprised me so much that I turned to my husband, and asked if he could see it. I specifically said, "Can you see the face of Jesus?" He replied that he couldn't, that maybe his contacts were blurry or something. I watched, mesmerized by this perfect vision of Jesus. The next day was my mother's month anniversary mass. My dad and I were the only ones from our family who were able to attend. We sat in the third or fourth pew. During the procession, one of the altar boys (around 50 years old) touched my arm. I thought he was going to offer condolences. Instead, he asked if we would like to bring up the gifts (wine and the Eurcharists) for the rest of the parish. Of course, we agreed. When the time came, I picked up the wine, and my dad picked up the bowl full of the small hosts. We went to the grave after; and then to my sister's home where everyone gathered for a brunch. While talking about different "signs" we all felt we had experienced since my mum's death, I mentioned seeing the face of Jesus the day before. My dad immediately said, "They are all like that. His face is printed on them, because when I brought up the gifts this morning, every single one of the hosts had the face of Jesus on it." I teach CCD. That afternoon, I asked the nun in charge of the educational program, what, if anything, is printed on the hosts given out for mass. She told me that they were either blank or had the large P with a cross through it. I asked if any were printed with the face of Jesus. She said, "No." I then recounted the story my father and I had experienced. She told me that I had a vision and a blessing; a sign from God or my mother. It was very comforting to have seen it; and I have yet to see it again.
