Gangster Ghost
by PAquarius

I grew up on a two family house that had formerly been owned by a man who was purportedly involved in organized crime. He was shot in the stairway of the hall going to the upstairs apartment and died a few days later in the hospital. I lived with my parents in the upper flat, and when I married my husband and I rented the lower flat. That is when I began to hear footsteps and doors slamming when my parents were not at home. They denied being at home and I thought they were not telling the truth. Later on we moved to the suburbs and my parents sold the house to an investor, who rented it out for a few years and then tore the house down. I wondered where the ghost would go. A few years later, my daughter in law (whom I had told the story to) told me she went to a coffee shop and the proprietor owned a two family home with his brother and sister-in-law a few doors down the street from my old home. He complained of his brother and sister-in-law accusing him of walking around and slamming doors when he was not at home. My daughter in law told him about my experience and he wanted to meet me, but I declined, afraid that the entity might follow me home. Another coincidence, on the day that I heard the ghost slamming doors and stomping the loudest was at the exact moment of my daughter-in-law's birth.
