The Blue House
by Danelle P.

It all started when my husband and I moved into a house of our dreams. It was large and pretty cheap. I used to walk up the stairs and would look up at the top of the stairs and it seems like there was a large shadowy figure at the top of them. It didn't seem very nice and kind of scary. When I would walk down the stairs, there was this other shadow that looked like a body crumpled up on the base of the stairs.

My brother-in-law spent the night in the family room downstairs. The next morning he asked me why I was doing laundry so late in the night. I asked him what he was talking about as I went to bed before him that evening. He said that he was awakened by the laundry room door opening and a woman that looked like me going in there with a laundry basket and a few minutes later coming out without it. He never slept down there again, needless to say.

One night I was lying down in the living room upstairs. I just fell asleep when I felt a tap on my shoulder. I looked up to find a woman standing over me telling me to follow her. I wasn't scared, just curious, so I followed her. She told me her name was Mary and she had to show me something. I followed her through the kitchen on the way toward the stairs. That is when I heard him. He was yelling at this woman, then started to hit her. I was getting pretty scared at this point and I couldn't move or talk. It seemed like I was walking following this couple, but my feet weren't moving. This couple were arguing and he was being very abusive. They made it to the top of the stairs when all of the sudden he pushed her down the stairs. I wanted to scream, but couldn't. I continued following him down the stairs when I saw her crumpled up at the bottom of the stairs.

I had this eerie feeling that I had seen this before (I had before when I would walk down the stairs). I got down to the bottom of the stairs just in time to see him grab her and start hitting her again. Just at the moment I thought, Oh my - he is going to kill her. And that is just what he did. He slapped her around some more and then pushed her into the fireplace and that made a really bad sound like it crushed her skull.

I couldn't do anything but sit there and cry. I was really upset when they disappeared. I walked upstairs, and when I looked up there he was just standing at the top of the stairs looking happy. I pushed passed him and went to the living room to wake up my husband who said that he didn't hear a thing. I looked into the history of the house after that and found out the previous owners about 50 years before had a homicide in the home. I felt sick as I watched a murder, but couldn't do anything about it. To this day I think about that woman and wish that I could have helped her. I haven't talked about what happened because I don't think that some people would understand. Maybe it was just a dream, but why would I have all the details and why would she want me to know what happened?
