Goodbye, Boys

My father died just over 5.5 years ago. As I was trying to come to grips with the loss, my three-year-old nephew was asking me about grandpa, where he was, what happened, etc. He hadn't seen my father in several months, but my dad had always loved seeing his grandchildren. My nephew then said "You know what grandpa said before he left?" I just felt chills. "What did he say, Ryan?", I asked. "He said 'Goodbye, boys. Goodbye, boys." My nephew repeated himself several times. I just sat there a little confused. Since his passing was unexpected, part of me wonders if he really did get a chance to say goodbye to Ryan.
