Haunting on Branch Street
by Gail
It's been 16 years since I moved out of that evil apartment. This apartment was located on 6 Branch Street in Fall River, Massachusetts. It was our last apartment my boyfriend, at the time, had rented and it was going to be something that was going to be part of our darkest fears for years to come.
Sixteen years and I remember everything like it was just yesterday. I was expecting my first son in six months at that time. This apartment was rented to us by a friend of my boyfriend's relative. When my boyfriend's mother and I first walked in the house smelled musty, really warm and it reeked like an old basement. We washed the apartment through and through and made sure everything was suitable for us to live in.
First incident: My boyfriend were coming in with groceries in our hands and I was waiting for my boyfriend to unlocked the front door. Upon waiting, I happened to look up at the wooden door frame and noticed an upside down carved cross about three inches long on it. I gasped and showed it to my boyfriend. We both stared at it and brushed it off.
Second incident: I was in the living room one afternoon watching Oprah on TV. Everything seemed calm and normal. But then suddenly, out of the corner of my eye, down the hallway I noticed something was moving. It was the front door opening slowly wide, and when I looked directly at it, it swung shut furiously. I ran out of the other door located in the living room and ran down my boyfriend's mother's house down the street from us. I was upset, scared and told his family about the event. Everyone was baffled.
Third event: I began noticing knickknacks being moved in different places almost daily and kept hearing a clicking noise of some kind at least two times a day.
Fourth incident: I happened to be getting a glass a milk in kitchen when I heard the clicking noise again! This time I seemed close to the clicking noise so I followed where the sound was coming from. I found myself staring at the solid brass deadbolt located on our front door turning all by itself, locking the door. The hairs on my arms stood straight up and I darted to the back door again running down my boyfriend's mother's home. I was frantic at this point and was terrified to stay in this apartment. I thought to myself, what next. My boyfriend didn't know what to think because things didn't seem to happen when he was around until it did.
Fifth incident: My boyfriend and I were getting ready to fall asleep, so he rolled over to give me a kiss. Suddenly, he stopped and whispered to me, "Get the bat from under the bed!" I looked at him puzzled and asked, "What, what for?" "Just get the bat!" I reached over and grabbed the bat and gave it to him. He scurried out of the bed like a mad man going around the entire apartment with the bat in his hands. He soon came back in the room, put the bat down and lay on the bed. I asked him what was wrong. He didn't want to tell me, but I insisted. He said, "I saw something black standing at our bedroom doorway when I went to reach over to kiss you." I began to feel that uncomfortable scared feeling again, and I think he was starting to also.
Sixth incident: I came home from visiting my boyfriend's mother and I noticed the apartment was freezing. It felt like it was 30 degrees. I walked into the kitchen and I noticed there was a gold necklace on the kitchen counter. It had a star and a circle around the star. Years later I realized it represented devil worship. Anyhow, upon seeing this necklace, it gave me an uneasy feeling. Where did it come from? I walked over to the bathroom and flushed it in the toilet and it was gone.
Seventh incident: My friend Sheila slept over two weeks after the necklace incident and went to unfold the couch into a bed. I was in the kitchen at the time preparing snacks when she called me over. I went over to where she was and all of a sudden it felt like the blood just drained out of my body when I noticed she was holding up the same necklace I flushed in the toilet. She asked, "What, do you believe in the devil or something?" I said no and asked where she got it. She said she found it between the couch.
Eight incident: She and I the next night decided to do a Ouija board in the apartment by the kitchen door. We blessed the house with holy water before playing with the Ouija. Upon using the Ouija, nothing happened. It was after we stopped using it that I didn't feel right. I stood up and I felt like my feet weren't touching the floor, although they were; I felt like I was drifting. I felt like that for about an hour.
Ninth incident: My boyfriend and I were playing rummy around 1:00 in the morning when we heard what sounded like a body falling down the stairs from behind the kitchen door. We lived on the first floor; a lady just died of a stroke on the second floor. So what was the noise? My boyfriend flung open the kitchen door and there was nothing there. We both looked at each other amazed and confused.
Tenth incident: It was around 9:30 p.m. when my boyfriend and his friend along with myself were watching wrestling on TV. Suddenly all the windows in the apartment were rattling and sounded like the windows were all getting pounded on. He and his friends ran out of the back door to look around the outside of the apartment and came back in saying no one was there. They were freaked out and so was I.
Eleventh incident: My boyfriend and I had been arguing and he was sitting on the living room chair that was able to spin if you wanted it to. I angrily walked down the hall over to the kitchen to grab something to drink and was walking back over to him. When I saw him, I dropped the glass of milk on the carpet and screamed. His eyes were both rolled back and he was foaming from the left side of his mouth. I ran to his mother's and we both came back frantic to find my boyfriend sitting down watching TV like nothing ever happened. Freaky!
Twelfth incident: My son was four months old and my mother just past away from cancer. One morning my boyfriend went off to work and I remember I was sleeping on the bed when I heard my mother's voice call out my name. I opened my eyes and no one was there. Then I kept my eyes open and I heard her voice say my name again. My phone rang instantly and I ran over to the phone and I heard a dial tone. My son was crying furiously in his crib. I reached over to take him off the crib and went over to the kitchen to warm his bottle. I was still disturbed by hearing my mother's voice, but knew I had to feed my son. My back was turned toward the hallway, warming the bottle when I heard a voice, less than a whisper, but could hear my name. I shut the stove off, grabbed my son and headed to my boyfriend's mother's house again.
This apartment was a non-stop haunting. One other event I left out in this that I need to let you people know: My boyfriend's niece decided to visit me one day, but at the time my mother was still alive and I was visiting her. When his niece came over to me later that night, she wanted me to sit down – that she had something to tell me. She told me that when she went to visit me earlier that day, she kept knocking on the door. When she didn't get a response she said she looked in the living room windows that were a little open and saw things flying across my apartment and heard tiny voices talking amongst themselves. She was white as a sheet while she told me this and I knew that his family started to see for themselves. My boyfriend and I soon after that broke up. Broke up for a combination of reasons along with the added stress of that place. Upon moving out, my boyfriend's uncle, who knew the landlord very well, told me that the landlord told him that devil worshippers resided in the apartment before we moved in and were trouble. That explained for all the occurrences that went on there. Sometimes we have to wonder what's lurking in certain places and it's only while you live there that you get subjected to what's waiting.
