Mom's Ghost
by Jennifer

My aunt's house is haunted. I have lived there since my mom died in 1984, until I got my own place in 2003. My mom used to haunt it until my grandmother passed away and my dad put my mom's ashes in the casket with my grandmother. I was 16 and was alone in the house putting stuff on the bookshelves in my room. In order for me to get to the top shelves, I had to stand on the bed. Well, I slipped and fell backward off the bed -- and my mom caught me and put me on the floor! I can tell you I was mighty scared and couldn't move for a minute until I heard a noise in the family room, looked down and noticed my mom's picture had fallen off the table. That's when I knew it was her.

Then in 1986, right after I got engaged to my ex-husband, he was vacuuming the living room, cut the vacuum off, came in and asked me what I wanted. I told him I didn't say anything to him. He told me that he saw a lady standing in the hallway who looked like me, except she was wearing a light green gown. I told him that he had just met his mother-in-law. He looked at me like I was crazy until he saw her a little while later when he was the only one in the house.

Now, my grandparents and my uncle will visit every once in a while. If you do something that they do not "approve" of, pictures will fall, the rafters will sound like they have been snapped in half, and, every once in a while, you might have something non-breakable thrown at your head. There's a place on my former bedroom wall where someone threw a tube of Vick's VapoRub at me and I was the only one in the house at the time and I didn't appreciate it, but I immediately knew what it was that had disturbed the spirits and won't do it again.
