Ouija Scare

I tried using the Ouija board once when I was 18. My father had told me that the house he had just moved into maybe haunted and I didn't think anything of it. I was coming home to North Carolina and was settling into the new house after we had returned from the airport. That night I woke up in the middle of the night and I was parched. I thought this was strange because I'm a very sound sleeper and never wake up in the middle of the night. My water bottle was on the dresser across from my bed and I know for a fact that the closet doors to the right of my bed were closed. I got up and drank some water and when I turned around the doors were wide open. Other than that, you could hear whispering in the guest room and the toilet bowl lid would sound like it was slamming up and down at times. You could hear footsteps up and down the stairs, and my dad swore the ghost had opened and closed several doors in the house before, even locking them.

One night my friends and I thought it would be interesting to try the Ouija board. The first time we tried, my friend said a prayer to protect us from harm and nothing out of the ordinary happened. Just the usual laughing and blaming each other for moving the pointer. The second time, we didn't say a prayer before and the answers we were getting were actually spelling things. All of a sudden, I felt really sick and ran to the bathroom to throw up. My temperature went from normal to above 100. We stopped immediately, but I still felt sick, so I refused to stay in the house that night. I spent the night at my boyfriend's house, but was up all night crying and praying. I was still throwing up and my temperature never went down. One minute I was having to take a scalding hot bath and then the next I would have to take a bath with ice cubes in it.

The next night, I came home and tried to fall asleep in my room. I kept hearing knocking noises from the wall behind my head, which was weird since I was on the second story. I started to call for my dad, and within a few minutes I was literally screaming for him, but he never came. Not knowing what to do I said, "Stop it! You're scaring me!" And all the knocking stopped. I screamed for my dad and he came right in. He had been in his room, which is right next to mine the whole time, and he swore he never heard me screaming. Until we moved, the ghost never bothered me anymore than the usual strange noises during the day. Maybe it knew that it was scaring me, I don't know... but that night still haunts me to this day.
