Missing Rummage Sale
by Traveler
Several people told me I ought to check out a missing time website. The thing that happened to me, which I have dubbed "The Case of the Missing Rummage Sale," does not sound like missing time. It sounds more like people and an event that are missing. Anyway, here is what happened to me.
My boyfriend drove me to an outdoor rummage sale. It was held in the parking lot of the recreation building of the Sun City Anthem housing development in Henderson, Nevada. The sale was to start at 7:00 a.m. on April 21, 2007. We got there at 7:30 a.m. on April 21, 2007. There were just three empty parked cars in the parking lot. There were no people, no tables set up, no rummage sale signs... nothing. We drove around the parking lot for 25 minutes and then we left.
I have been going to this sale every six months for several years. There is only one way in to this place, only one community parking lot in the entire complex, and only one recreation building. On Monday, two days after the date of the sale, I called their recreation center to see if they had rescheduled the sale for a different date. The event coordinator told me the sale went on as usual on the date I was there in the parking lot where I was. She said the parking lot was packed with shoppers at 6:30 a.m., and she does not know why I did not see anyone. There is only one recreation building and I was there.
Tuesday night, I went on the website of this complex, to check out this rummage sale. It turns out that I was there at the right place, right date, right time. Where was everybody? Why didn't I see anybody? I have talked to a few people, most of whom definitively say, "You went to the wrong place"; "You went on the wrong date"; "You went at the wrong time", all of which is nonsense. I am slowly calming down after the strange incident, but I will never forget it.
