Cedar Springs Haunting
by Deanna

1980 to present (April 2008) Cedar Springs, Michigan. From the time I was little, I was seeing things that could not be explained. I was five when I had my first experience. I saw red eyes peering from the outside of my window. My bedroom was on the second floor of the house, so no tree or anything that could make it a cat and such. I told my mother what I had seen and she shrugged it off and my brothers made fun of me. I kept quiet over the years, never again mentioning of occurrences.

Our family had moved to an old farmhouse in the country. This house was over 100 years old. My fan turned on in front of me as I was leaning over to turn it on, doors would slam open and shut when there was no breeze to make it happen, footsteps coming from downstairs up through my room, and then stop in front of my brothers bed. Repeatedly. I had seen the apparition.

My brothers finally noticed that something wasn't right either. They had their friends over one weekend and they slept downstairs in the living room for fun. They lay there and started hearing the walking around upstairs, yet nobody was up there. My brothers woke my dad up and he grabbed the gun and went upstairs. There was nothing there, and dad even grumbled that the windows were even locked. At night, I would kick back with my brothers to listen to the late night talk session on the hi-fi. As we all sat there, the knob spun all through the stations on its own and then back to what we were listening to. That happened a lot.

My folks didn't believe my brothers and me about what was going on. We took our mom upstairs one night to prove to her that we were telling the truth. She sat on my brother's bed. As if on cue, the footsteps started from downstairs going up, through my room, and stopping in front of her. Her jaw about dropped. She then started hearing things and having the same occurrences happening to her.

We moved out of the house and the next owner left the first night, in the middle of the night, and took none of his belongings.

I grew up, married, had my oldest son, and got our own place. I then started having incidents. I kept them to myself. I didn't want my husband to think I was nuts. I divorced, bought another home. Remarried, this is my current home. I have two boys. I have had my home investigated, and as usual spirits were present. I had gotten hit in the back while sleeping, rolled over thinking my husband did it. I was ready to smack him a good one and realized that he was out like a light, snoring. He had his feet picked up off the bed and thrown onto the floor. My youngest son would stare at my ceiling fan. I caught him one day, and looked up. I had it turned off, but it was spinning around and going in the opposite direction I had it set for! My stepdaughter saw an image of a man, my son saw the same man, neither talked about it. They came to me at different times and described him to me.

It was enough. I had my home blessed. I have them now though, but they don't bother me. I have cold spots, orbs (on my camera), and things that fall off the wall or shelf that shouldn't have and things misplaced one minute and I find them the next. I don't tell my boys about it.
