Weirdness in Avery
by Paulla J.

I live in Avery, Texas and am 28 years old. My husband and I used to live in an apartment that used to be the old hospital for the town that we lived in at that time. When we first moved in, I used to hear my name called all the time. After a while, that stopped. At one point in our four-year stay, my husband and I were talking and he just stopped and looked at me funny. When I asked him what was wrong, he said my eyes changed colors (I am of Hispanic heritage with jet black hair and black eyes). I asked him what color they turned to. He said they went to light green, but just for three or four seconds. Later, I was at home at night by myself waiting on him to get off work. I heard the door open and close and the deadbolt lock. I was in the bedroom and just assumed it was him. When I started talking to him, I never received a response. So, I went to the living room and there was no one in the apartment but me. The deadbolt was locked! (It had not been locked before.) Other than that, I cannot tell you anything. One night I woke up in the middle of the night and knew that something was wrong with one of his cousins. The next morning we found out that he had been out all night and his girlfriend was very upset, and not long after they broke up.

As far as that apartment goes, we lived there for four years, and that was all the major stuff that happened. I was living at home when my grandmother went to the hospital. I was sitting in church and got the urge to go see her because she had been real sick. When I told my mom (it was her mother), she said we would go see her after lunch. I urged her to go then, but she said no. When we got home from church, she called and my grandmother had gone to the hospital. When my mom came to my room to tell me, she was white because she couldn't believe how I knew.
