Early OBE
by Beverly T.
I've had many many unusual experiences, but by far the most unusual and most profound in my life is my first memory in my life. Why it occurred is what makes me believe there must be a higher power and life after death.
When I was three years old, I had an out-of-body experience. Even though I knew something important was happening, I did not know what that something was until years later. I can see me standing in a hallway of a house and I can describe the furniture and the layout of this room. I see my stepfather come into the hallway and he is trying to get my mother to open the bathroom door. She was crying and upset and couldn't get her to unlock the door. Behind me, the door to the outside is now open and there is the brightest white light of the greatest intensity filling the doorway and into the room. It does not make me fearful, but I look at it with awe.
I would learn some years later when I described this scene to my grandmother that this day my mother had tried to commit suicide by slashing her wrists. My (real) father had just been killed in a car wreck. I've read many possible explanations on this kind of thing, but:1) I was not upset, for I did not realize what was happening; 2) nothing can explain this light source (it was in the winter months and no one had come in or out from the outside. Many years later I dreamed of this same light when my sister almost died); 3) If a higher power is the source of this light then perhaps it was what gave me the ability to see from outside of my body, a panoramic view of all that was occurring. Something or someone decided this day was important and that I would always remember it.
