Circus
Ghost
by Billy V.
I was only 10 years old when it happened. I was in school on a regular winter day (being England of course) and had been sent by a teacher to retrieve a book. At this time the playground was absolutely quiet as it was during lesson time. As I walked outside, I saw a West Indian child in rags standing in front of me. (It could not have been a student because at this time there was only one west Indian kid in the school.) I grew curious and began to move toward him when suddenly he vanished into thin air. At first I tried to think of logical explanations, but eventually realized there was not one.
As the years passed I grew to believe that the boy I saw was a child from the slave trade (rags), but one day six years after the event a friend of my mothers came to visit and we began to discuss ghosts and I shared my story with him. When I told him what I saw, the look of shock and fear on his face was scary. He told me that many years ago the school I went to was a circus and what I had seen was not a child but a midget who was run over by a car there over 30 years ago. I felt a sense of relief and contentment because finally my questions had been answered.
