My Experience with the Hag
by Crystal C.

I shared a bed with my sister when I was 18 years old. Every night I would climb into bed, look at the clock, and settle in for my night's rest. But on this particular night and many others, there was no rest.

I glanced at the clock, and turned my head back to the ceiling. I felt the paws of my sister's cat start to walk up my legs. But this was impossible because the cat was lying near my head. I was confused and then frightened when the paws on my legs began to multiply as they crawled up to my chest. I glanced down and saw that nothing was there! The paws now became larger, like giant male hands, pressing down on me and covering the front of my body as I lie on my back staring into nothingness in disbelief. But there was more than the physical feeling of being restrained. I could "sense" that something evil was overpowering me. It seemed the devil himself was lying on top of me, invading me. I looked around the room in a panic, frantically trying to move any part of my body. I tried to scream for my sister, but could not make a sound come from my own throat! There was no sense to be made of this. There was no explanation. I remember thinking that I was going to die. Something was smothering me, crushing me, suffocating me, and this evil something was going to kill me. The terror was unlike anything I can explain with words. I only escaped from the torture when I passed out. (I did not fall asleep, I passed out from the fear.)

This has happened to me several times over the years, no matter where I make my bed or who is there with me. And every time, I felt like I was being attacked by a demon. Being a fighter by nature, I chose not to allow it anymore. I took control of my body by stating aloud each night that I have control of my body and nothing will take that from me. And the paralysis would come but I would fight with all my strength to move one finger. It took several nights before I actually managed to do so, but when I finally succeeded in moving one finger, the entire weight lifted and seemed to float out of my room like a defeated demon, retreating to the depths. The more I practiced this, the easier it was to fight off. And eventually it stopped happening all together. But I still feel the fear of it each night when I lie down. I know I can beat it but it doesn't stop me from being afraid of that feeling.

It is only now that I understand the scientific point of view on this subject and it is quite possible that my protective words were all my subconscious mind needed to convince my body to follow my command. I still believe it is quite possible that this is an evil entity. Maybe my words were just stronger magic.
