Edgar
Cayce Ghost Writer
by M. H.
My hobby is writing and I was sitting at my PC working on a short story. I was happy with the main part and as it was a "tale with a twist." I had already written the ending, but I needed to tie in the ending to the story without making it sound clumsy. Earlier I had been on line reading about the prophet Edgar Cayce (but I was not online now) and for some reason I said out loud something like, "Edgar Cayce, I need your help!" Then I decided to shut down the PC and go to bed... except my computer wouldn't let me shut down! I kept pressing "exit," "shut down," etc., but all I had was a blank gray screen. After some minutes, some lines of type appeared on my screen and I remember clearly thinking, "What's going on? That's not my story" Then, recognizing the names, realizing... "That is my story!" Some five or six lines had been inserted providing the "tie in" needed. This time the computer let me shut down and the only clue I had to something strange happening was the message "the global template has been altered."
My friends, of course, tried to think of logical explanations, but there aren't any. I did not fall asleep (it wasn't late, I wasn't tired and I was too busy trying to shut down the computer!). I don't see how anyone could have hacked into the PC when I wasn't online. And even if it were possible, why write the particular part I needed? Most of all, I have written stories since I was a child and I know my own style - the lines were not mine. I can't think why I had this psychic experience. It was just a normal short story and although I have sold work in the past I was unsuccessful with this piece. I am using the same PC to type this e-mail and as always looking over my shoulder.
