About the Shadow People
by Stacey M.

My whole life I've seen the dark shadows from the corner of my eyes. I'm used to that and don't think twice about that anymore. They were just black things that seem to float with no real detail; some gave me the chills while most where easily ignored. Some seemed to give off an evil feeling, but others were neutral. When I was small, doors closed, electrical things turned on and off, and one time a clock flew straight off the wall (didn't fall down, but straight across and then dropped). Other people in the same apartment building had similar stories, even phantom cats were seen.

Those things stopped happening when I moved from the apartment we grew up in. I still saw the black shadows, but very little physical activities for years. When I was small, I thought there was an unseen world all around us and they are part of that. I reasoned to myself that sometimes we were able to mingle with each other. They seem to be more experienced or perhaps less afraid than us when this happens. I pondered the situation quite often when I was small. I thought everyone saw and knew about these things, since it was so commonplace in our apartment building.

Now something different has happened and I'm seeing something new or maybe just in a different way, I'm not sure. This started six months before my mom died. I started seeing grayish shadowy people some with no faces, but one I see a lot has round bluish grey eyes. These encounters would happen everywhere at anytime. I saw them on the street, in my house, and it didn't matter if it was day or night. They almost look like real people, but I knew they're not because they look very washed out with little detail, plus they always disappeared in a second or so. They don't glow, they just seem to be a grayish blue or slate color. Sometimes with a washed out mauve mixed in. I'm not sure what they are. I don't get the feeling that they are ghosts or aliens - just something.

I get the feeling that they were never human, but for some reason they have an interest. They went away after my mom died. That was two years ago. I just started seeing the gray ones again one week before my dad had a stroke. The one I see the most is about five feet, give or take a few inches, very thin with grayish blue clothes with no real detail. It seems like a male (if they even have a gender) and never moves, but just looks at me sadly. Never speaks either. These encounters only last a second or two and it's gone again.

These don't happen only in the corner of my eye. These are different from the dark ones I’ve seen my whole life. I just wonder why they would bother with me and why don't they move or talk. They even stand on the side of the freeways.
