Her
Cat Talks, Too
by Bel
It's so amazing how many talking cat experiences that have been documented on this site. Now I know that my entire family isn't crazy!
My mother's cat, a beautiful jellicle cat, talks to us now and then. He doesn't engage in conversation and doesn't speak just because he gets bored, he only speaks when he urgently wants attention.
Once he was desperate to be let outdoors and called to my nephew, "Murray! Help!" then called my mother, "Mum! Mum!" and was sitting by the back door, pointing at the door handle. He's called out to my sister, "Maria... Maria" in the middle of the night, and she wasn't sure why; maybe one day we'll know.
The last visit to the vet, mum and I were getting into the car with him, and he repeatedly cried, "No! No! No!" He sounds a little eerie when he speaks, but I think it's mostly a cute little voice! I don't know how it is that some animals speak and some don't, but my experience with mum's cat has brought myself (and others in the family who aren't freaked out by it) closer to the little darling, and has opened my eyes to the greater intelligence that animals truly do possess.
