The
Little Voice

About two years ago, I left an abusive marriage and met someone else. We found an old apartment to move into that was really cheap. My four-year-old son was living with me and visited his father on the weekends. Shortly after settling in, my boyfriend, Jody, and I called it a night and went to bed. Through the middle of the night I heard a small voice calling, "Mom... mom... mom." My son regularly would come to wake me up if he needed a drink of water or something but, I was so tired, I thought I was just hearing things. Then the little voice called out again, "Mom... mom.. mom."
Just then Jody rolled over and touched my side. "Kim, you'd better get up. DeAndre is calling for you!" I sat upwith a cold chill down my spine and said, "Jody, DeAndre is with his father this weekend." We both looked at each other and Jody searched the aparrment with no luck of finding anything. We dismissed it, but during the next two years of living at the apartment we would hear the little voice and check the house to find nothing, and when my son was home he would be fast asleep.
We finally bought a home and one day when we were packing, Jody was in the bathroom and our bedroom closet door slammed shut. No windows were open and nor was there a draft. When he opened the closet door, a Bible Jody's mom had given him was ripped and scattered on the floor. As he picked up the pieces, something compelled Jody to pick up a piece of carpet that we never lifted the entire time we lived there. Underneath was a document of an abortion that a woman who lived there had five years ago. We don't know if there was a connection, but unbenounced to me, Jody brought the paper to our new home.
Not long after settling in to our new place, Jody and I heard the little voice again. This time we weren't the only ones who have experienced the voice. Jody's mom spent the night and she heard a little boy calling out. She looked around and saw nothing. Since then, she rarley stays the night at our place. I don't feel scared or threatened by this spirit, nor does Jody, we do however, wish we knew who this spirit was and why it comes to us, maybe someday we will find out, but for now we just continue on.
