Hand
of Grandfather's Ghost
by Brittany C.
I was seven years old when I had encountered my first sight of a ghost. Now I am 15 years old. I was spending the night at my grandmother's in Concord, NH. When I was only two, my grandfather died in that house from a heart attack. As I grew older, she told me how he had died, and since then I was always scared to go to the bathroom alone in that house.
One night, my older sister and I slept over her house. My sister was sleeping on the couch in the living room and I slept in my father's old room. I woke up in the middle of the night and had to go to the bathroom. It was dark and I could barely see a thing. I yelled to my grandmother a couple times saying, "Grandma, I have to pee. Can you take me to the bathroom?" I repeated this only a couple of times.
Then I saw a shadow come into the room. It was shaped as a person, but I saw no face, just a shadow. Then I repeated to the figure, "Grandma, I have to pee."
The figure then held out its hand for me. I sat up and reached for it. As soon as my hand went to grab the figure's, my hand went right through it. My eyes widened in fear and I lay back down, pulling the covers up to my neck. I watched as the figure put its hand back down to its side and float slowly backward out of the room. When I say float, I mean there were no footsteps, floating.
Now whenever I walk by that bedroom, I get the chills. I believe that is is my grandfather's spirit and is not a bad one.
