Shadows and Angels
by Greg
When I was seven in 1974, I lived in a small trailer park in Hudson, New Hampshire. I had a number of strange experiences there, but I'll narrow it down to two for now, if the webmaster will indulge me.
My sister and I shared a room at the back of the mobile home; my parents had the room at the front of the place near the road. One night there was a pretty bad thunderstorm, which at the time I was afraid of. I got up and went to sleep on the couch in the living room near my parents' bedroom. No sooner did I lie down than I heard the hallway floor creaking with footsteps. I actually got irritated because I thought my sister was also coming to try to sleep on the couch. I lifted my head to look down the hallway and froze. The shadow of a person was coming down the hallway, but there was no one there to make the shadow. I could plainly see down the hall toward my room. I could hear its weight on the floor. The shadow was on the wall and was right up to the ceiling. I was terrified and didn't stick around to see where it would go. I shot hysterically into my parents' room, screaming that I had seen a ghost. Of course they thought I was dreaming, but I slept on their floor that night. I'm 39 now and I remember it like it was yesterday.
Another strange event occurred shortly after that last one. At this time my parents were having financial problems, drinking a lot and basically losing their marriage. They turned to Christianity, which I believe saved their marriage. Across the street from us was an abused little blonde girl of perhaps five years, the daughter of an alcoholic. One day she was talking to us all out front on the street, and out of the blue she said, "Last night I saw angels standing in a circle around your house. They were all dressed in white and were even taller than your house!" We were stunned, but she was very matter of fact about it, and went on to another subject. It doesn't seem like something a little girl under her circumstances would make up. I think they were "assigned" to us when my folks became Christians. Just my two cents worth.
