Nasty Lucy
by Becca

My whole life I've experienced odd unexplainable things, I believe were ghosts. A few years ago, I started a part time job in Loveland, Colorado while going to college, that I loved. It was a small non-profit, in which I was doing suicide prevention work. Our office was inside an old historic home, in which two other non-profits also joined us.

Things would happen quite often in which we felt we were not alone. We began to feel there was a presence of a young woman living in this old home. We called her "Lucy". At a staff meeting, in which all three organizations got together, we started discussing our house ghost. We found out that everyone had had experiences with "her". For some reason we believed that Lucy lived in the bathroom. This was the one part of the house that had the least amount of reconstruction done to it, and it most closely resembled the original home. Generally, Lucy was not a mean spirit, but she seemed to not like me very much. We hypothesized that this was because I was young (probably around her age) and she didn't like having another young female around.

One day she was being particularly nasty to me. I was alone in the office, because it had gotten pretty late and everyone else had already headed home. The light isn't very good inside the old house, so we used many lamps. All of a sudden, the bathroom door opened and the lamp lights started flickering. Ever since childhood, when I would experience things like this, I would simply talk to the ghosts and tell them I was friendly and had no bad feelings toward them. I told Lucy this many times and I felt like she knew me pretty well. So when this happened, I said, "Lucy, please stop. I promise I'll leave soon."

But this didn't work. I stood up from my chair to open the blinds and let it the remaining sun light, as the sun was setting. When I sat back down I hit the ground with a thud. I turned around and saw that my chair had been pulled out from underneath me and was about four feet from my desk, in the middle of the room. This is the most aggressive Lucy had ever been, so I decided to go home.

A few days later, I had to stop by the office on a Sunday. Again, no one else was there, but when I went inside I heard water running. I walked upstairs to investigate and saw that the bathroom door was shut and the light was on. I could tell that the running water was coming from inside. I opened the door and saw that the curtains were drawn around the shower and the shower was running. I immediately ran quickly from the building without getting what I came for. For some reason that day I got chills running down my spine. I had never been so spooked by a ghost in my life.

A few months later I graduated from college, and was hired by a new company in Washington D.C., and moved across the country. I still talk to my old co-workers. They say Lucy is still there, but she has been much more friendly since I left.
