A SLIder
is What I Am

My daughter e-mailed me the link to your article, SLIders & the Streetlight Phenomenon, as she knows all the things you talked about have happened to me. I thought I was the only weirdo in the world that could do this and hardly ever told anyone about it.
I believe it started when, as a toddler, I stuck a key in an electrical socket. My mother had to pull me off as I was frozen to the key and my hair was standing on end. I think that is what may have caused it all. Have any other people reported being electrocuted at any time in their lives? Or perhaps I was just born with it and being electrocuted made it stronger.
I have, in the past, been able to control this phenomenon. I have a live witness that saw me "turn a streetlight on and off" over and over again in the span of two minutes, just by telling it to do so. You see, she too, did not believe me (no one ever does), and I guess I had had enough and wanted desperately to prove it. Streetlights are not safe whenever I am around. For that matter, neither is any electrical equipment. Once, my husband put in a brand new digital radio/tape player in the car, when digital first came out. He set up all the stations and proudly asked me to come and see my new present. I touched the display, not a key or a button mind you, just the plastic screen, and all the numbers and letters jumbled up and the radio was ruined. He returned it and bought me an analog one that worked just fine.
Watches never keep correct time for me. I haven't worn one in more than 25 years. I either speed them up, slow them down, or stop them altogether. I have used battery, wind-up and the Rolex Oyster Perpetual that never needs winding. None of them kept correct time. I can have my hand on the remote control for any electrical appliance and sometimes I don't even press the buttons, just rest my fingertip on them and they send the message to the appliance.
It seems that I am also bothered by ghosts and poltergeists. Once, as a child, everything electrical in the whole house turned on at once. I have seen and heard ghosts, not always alone. My husband and a friend are witness to ghostly happenings around me. I have had a psychic dream wherein my friend was driving down a side street and had to turn around because there were electrical wires down in the street. I woke up scared to death for him and told my husband. A week later, the friend came by and related how that very thing had happened to him four days before. A "professional psychic" told me that the three wires represented that it would happen in three days. It did happen three days after I dreamed it.
I also tend to have trouble getting money out of the money machine because half the time my card doesn't work. I think I may ruin that little magnetic stripe. Also, I hardly ever lose track of north. Spin me, and I usually point in the right direction. Everyone says I read the Tarot cards better than anyone else, and I don't even know them by heart and have to look up meanings in the book sometimes. But they say I always pick the right meanings and everything I predict comes true.
