The Dead Come Back
by John D.
About 14 years ago, when I was staying at my dad's house during my divorce, a woman appeared to me, reaching out. About a month later, she appeared at my sister's house on the couch next to me. I had fallen asleep briefly and awoke because it was cold. She was sitting across from me and I said, "Boy, it's sure cold here." Then she disappeared. She seemed so real.
Now about a month or so later, I was renting an upper apartment with my daughter Lisa, age 17 or 18. Lisa was sleeping and I saw this same woman standing near her bed. The coming morning, I got up to go to work and it was very cold outside - freezing as it was December or January. I always left for work at 6 a.m. sharp, but this inner voice said to me, "Do not leave. You have to go to Lisa's room and wake her up and tell her that her room is a mess and to clean it up." This voice urged me so much that I did wake her up yelling at her. Lisa awoke yelling, not at me but because the UL-approved electric sheet she had turned on to warm the bed hours ago and had put her in a deep sleep. It was smoldering and about to ignite the mattress!
I found this whole incident puzzling? Why did the inner voice tell me not to leave and why not tell me that Lisa's bed was catching on fire?
About a year later, I told my uncle from out of town this incident and what the woman looked like. He said that was my ex-wife's aunt who passed away about the same time these sightings started. I had met this aunt a few years before in Wilkes-Barre, Penn., and she treated me wonderfully for having had my ex-wife's dad given the church's last sacraments before he died. In conclusion, I do believe that the dead can come back, but I still cannot figure out why she could not give me the message directly about the bed 's mattress heating blanket.
