Grandpa's
Apparition
by Kim
In July of 2003, my fiancé, my son and I moved into my grandmother's house in the San Gabriel Valley, Calif. It has been vacant since 1998, a year after my grandfather passed from complications of Alzheimer's and soft palate cancer that spread to his brain. In 1998, my grandmother moved into a convalescent home. This house was the home of my grandparents, my father, and his twin brothers since 1950. Unfortunately, one twin passed in the mid-70s of a motorcycle accident at the age of 19 or so. The other twin passed in 1995 of a drug overdose. I knew him, and he was a wonderful man, a very skilled artist. My other uncle, the other twin, passed a few years before I was born. So my father asked if we would move into the house and occupy it while he gets it renovated. So of course we happily obliged. It was still filled with my grandparents' 50+ years of marriage and traveling, so it took a while to get it packed and moved down into my uncle's (the artists) old room downstairs.
Ever since we moved in, I would hear noises in the dining room and kitchen, dishes clanking and silverware rattling. I would hear it, and listen for a while. Finally, I would tell Grandpa to quit it, that he was scaring me. All of a sudden it would stop. I feel that he is watching over my son, which would have been his first born grandchild, who also bores his middle name. My son will be sitting in his room, talking/babbling to someone. We have no idea who it is, but whoever it is, is funny because my son laughs. I also hear music and bass coming from the downstairs room, right below our bedrooms. I am sure it is my uncle, still listening to his Jimmy Hendrix. He also likes to open the door, which is locked and dead-bolted all the time.
The craziest thing we have experienced in this house was about three weeks ago, at about 10 p.m. My son was asleep, and my fiancé was in the bedroom changing for bed. I was in the living room, bending over to turn on the TV. Just as I did, I glanced through my legs to see a pair of feet walking up behind me. I thought it was my fiancé, who likes to push me in a playful manner. So I braced myself, waiting to be pushed. After waiting a minute, I stood up. All of a sudden, I hear my fiancé yell, "Where are you!?!?" So I yelled back, "I'm in the living room!" And when he walked in, he asked me if I was wearing my white nightgown. I looked down at my body, which was still clothed in the day's garments. He dawned on it, and his face turned white. I asked him what was wrong, and he proceeded to tell me that while he was getting dressed, he looked down the dark hallway and saw a body wearing a white nightgown that was flowing. He thought it was me, and put his shirt on, looked down the hall again and saw it again, and then it vanished. That is when he yelled for me. After he was done telling me, I asked him why he was just standing behind me. He had no idea what I was talking about. It turned out that at the same time I saw the feet, he saw the apparition in the hallway. I believe it is my grandpa, letting me know he's there.
