Strange
Cloud
by Marc
I would like to share a strange event I saw in the summer of 1999. I reside in Quebec province in Canada in a small town named Dolbeau, a place where you can often see Northern Lights in the sky when the conditions are good enough.
We were five guys from 18 to 25 years old, driving from Dolbeau to St-Eugene d'Argentenay, which is a 15-minute ride, all in the same pick-up truck. We planned to spend the night playing video and board games at one of our friend's house. It was in September around 7 p.m., so the sun was not set yet.
I just don't know how to call what we saw on our way. We turned a corner and there was a cloud moving in the air at about 100 feet from the ground, all shining, with changing colors inside it. We where maybe at 1,500 feet from this cloud, maximum. The patches of colors where switching like red, blue, green, yellow, purple and moving inside the cloud. Even stranger, the cloud was going slowly in straight line, even if there was no wind at all, and it never went up or down.
We stopped the pick-up and climbed the nearest hill so we where able to look at it until it disappeared from our line of sight. We all saw it. We were not under the influence of anything that could affect our judgment. It was not like any Northern Light I've ever seen, and I've seen many types of it. I just don't know what it was.
