Hurricane
Premonition
by Vicki McKinley
A week before my mother's birthday, my sister planned a party for her at the nursing home she was living at. Mom had been in and out of intensive care for six months. She had Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's and dementia. She was now in intensive care with heart failure and fluid in the lungs. We planned her party for July 11th, two days before mom's actual birthday of July 13th. Mom would have been 74.
Mom told my sister that she "would stay for her birthday, but then the hurricane was coming." My sister said, "Mom, we don't have hurricanes in Ohio." My mother stated, "I know."
At mom's birthday, she was totally unconscious, but I know she knew all 10 of the family members were there, playing her favorite music, and presents, flowers and cake. One hour after my mother's birthday she passed away. My mother and step-father had lived in Avon Park, Florida for approximately 10 years, but after my step-father's death, my sister and I had to move mom from Florida to Ohio with us. She was too ill to be left alone.
Exactly one month from her birthday, Friday, August 13, 2004, Hurricane Charley hit Florida and then came Hurricane Frances and now Hurricane Ivan was heading that way. [Followed by Jeanne.] My mother knew the hurricanes were coming. How did she know and what does this mean?
