I dream a lot, mostly about
everyday things from the day before. I figure it's my brain's way of sorting
things out or looking for missed details – very handy. A couple of my
dreams are oddly different, though. I will tell you of one of them.
The dream: I was driving in my car down a long straight strip of road very early in the morning. It wasn't even light outside yet. I was on my way to work, which was an odd time for me to be driving there because I work in the afternoons. In the car with me was my fiance. He wasn't saying a word – again odd because he loves to talk in the car. He works different hours than I did, so we always drove our own cars into work. So nothing meshed right about this dream.
We drove in silence for about five minutes in the right lane of the two lane road. I always drive in the left lane if I can on a highway. A street light was out, casting a dark spot on the road ahead of us. The front end of the car started to go under that light when I hit a utility vehicle sitting underneath. The guy was changing out the burnt out light bulb. At night. With no signs or flares.
I woke up in a cold sweat
and was really upset. I plowed over a guy doing 65 mph, hit his truck and we
all died. (end of dream)
About a week later I got a call that my store was going to do an early morning inventory. I would need to be in at 5 a.m. My fiance started work at 4:30 a.m. His car died the afternoon before the inventory and he asked if I minded taking him into work. I was really cranky that morning and I started a fight with him over something stupid and he refused to talk to me. We drove up the highway in silence. I drove in the right hand lane so he wouldn't say I was driving like a maniac, when I noticed one of the street lights was out ahead. I slammed on the brakes and turned the car hard to the left. I barely missed the utility vehicle and the worker standing at the rear bumper with a light bulb in his hand.
I was in shock. Work sent me home, my husband stayed with me all day, skipping work as well. I have had a couple of these dreams, and all either seem to serve as warnings or helpful hints.
