In Death Valley National Park, there is a hotel that used to be a miner's corridor. It is called the Amargosa Opera house. A friend and I wanted to stay there due to the fact we had herd that it was haunted, and that room 9 has the most sightings. So I reserved for us to stay there in room 9 – and this is where the fun begins. The hotel is 7 miles from the nearest restaurant and 80 miles from Las Vegas. We got to the hotel to check in, and the lady at the front desk told us that we and an older gentleman were the only ones staying there. It was there slow season.
As we were checking in, the clerk told us that she leaves at 6:00 p.m. and the keys she gave us open the bach door, front door, and the door to our room. The place at night, when it's dark, is lit only by little lights that look like candles. There are only about 7 rooms to rent out. My friend and I went to the dining room to sit and play cards. When we walked in, we noticed the old man sitting there. We sat down and we talked with the old man for about an hour. We asked him questions about the place and he didn't know too much. As we were in a conversation, my friend and I heard voices, like a group of people. We couldn't make out what they were saying, but there was a lady's voice distinctive above the rest, and I couldn't hear what she was saying. So I got up, thinking there were people there, and as I looked down the hallway, there was no one around. I then looked outside and there were no vehicles around either.
I went back to tell my friend that I saw nothing and that it was strange. We went to take a walk outside around the hotel, and by this time the old man went to his room. Now outside it is almost pitch black except the dim lights. We didn't see anyone, so we decided to go to our room. Now our room had no TV, no phone and a bathroom that was not working well. And not to mention that there was only one light bulb for the room. We decided to go to bed and it was about 12:30.
Around 3:00 a.m., my friend woke up screaming and yelling at me, saying that something was holding her feet and legs, or sitting on him. I did not see anything and we went back to sleep. Around 4:00 a.m., I heard our door knob turning, thinking it was the old man, and that maybe he forgot what room he was in. I got up and opened the door, and no one was there. As I turned around, before I closed the door, I her a little child laughing and running past our room. I closed the door so fast and turned on the light and stayed awake until morning. The clerk shows up around 11:00 and we did not stay to wait. We left the keys and a note saying thank you for the room. It was a scary night and every time I pass by the hotel, I get the creeps!
