Phantom Partner
by Lunuar Blue

A few ago, my DH (Andrew) and I were arguing right before he left for work. Normally, we realize that it's dumb to argue and he slide next to me in bed and wrap his arms around me without a word. But on this day, the argument refused to cease and he biked out of the house and onto work. I lay back on the bed and thought about the argument. I never like to ever part on a fight.

I remember glancing over to the clock after reading for a bit. It was 4:07. Andrew should started work at 4. Just as my attention turned back to the book, I heard the back door slam shut. The backdoor at the house is only used by Andrew and. We rent the basement room and it's our private entrance. I heard footsteps on the stone floor and then the creaking open of our bedroom door. I didn't turn to face the door since I was still a little upset. I had figured that he came back to talk about it, rather then spend the rest of the day thinking about it at work. I heard him step out of his shoes, and I heard him take off his chain wallet. Then he walked over to the bed and I felt the bed go down as his weight settled. By now, I figured we talk so I turned to face him.

Only then did I realize that I was alone. The bedroom door was still shut tight. No one had come into the bedroom. My heart did stop a beat as I looked around. What happened? Did Andrew feel so bad about our argument that he sent a part of himself back home to apologize? I did visit him later that day and without saying anything about what happen to me, asked him how he felt around 4. He said he was feeling very bad and wished he could have apologized to me.
