The Small, Awkward Man

I have never believed any such thing as ghosts, though this topic has always fascinated me. However, I'm unable to understand why strange things happen to people. Maybe they imagine such things or they just invent these stories as kids and these stories remain in their heads even after they grow up.
We used to live in Mauritius, a small island. Our house was consisted of two bedrooms. My bedroom was attached to my parents'. My sister and I used to share the same room for five years. In 2002, during the month of September, when she was about four years old, she used to tell me that she would hear and see "a small, awkward man." The man seemed to call her toward him. She was very afraid about this prospect. She often used to wake me up in the middle of the night and tell me about it. I would feel angry with her, as I was often very tired during those days. I used to study until late at night and hearing her paranoia was not my idea of relaxation. I complained about this to my mother, who told me to just ignore her. She thought that my sister was just going through a childhood crisis and would get over it.
But this was not the case. She continued to feel that someone was calling for her. She was so terrified that even during the day she needed someone by her side. She flatly refused to remain alone for a single moment. She grew up with her fear. Finally, one day, I was so fed up of having her nudging me in the middle of the night that I took her by her arm and forced her to come along with me. We searched the whole house and I made her realize that there is no awkward person searching for her.
Since that day, she has finally decided to forget about her "small, wicked, and awkward man". However, last year we moved to our new house and she no longer sees any type of abnormal things working in the house.
