Ghosts in My House?
by PetalPusher1956

I live in my mom and dad's house with my three kids. We moved in about nine years ago when I got divorced. Mom had a big house, and there was room for all of us. My dad and my grandma, who had also lived there, had passed away in 1986 and 1987 respectively. My dear old grandma died in her sleep in the room that is now my daughter's. My dad died suddenly from a heart attack on the living room floor. Paramedics were able to bring him back, only to be in a coma for four weeks. My first experience came one night when I was asleep in the hospital waiting room - it had to be early morning, 2 or 3 a.m. - when I felt somebody kiss me on the cheek! I woke up suddenly, and there was no one else in the room with me! Sadly, my dad passed away two weeks later. I always like to think it was him giving me that last kiss goodbye.

Okay, back to the house. We had only lived there a few years with my mom, when she was stricken with lung cancer. She was a fighter, and despite the doctors saying she only had six months to live, with radiation and determination, she hung on for four and a half years. In the end, we had a hospital bed set up in the living room for her, and tried to make her as comfortable as possible.

One day in January when I was at work, the call came from my sister to come home, mom was dying! The weather was bad, and I couldn't drive fast, but I prayed all the way home for God to do the right thing. I guess he did. Mom was gone by the time I got there. My sister and brother were with her when she died, and so were my kids. It was shortly after my mom's funeral when my daughter started complain that she felt a "presence" in her room. She was 14 at the time, and refused to sleep with the lights off. I told her it was nothing, and she was just reading too many scary stories. She insisted she felt someone standing by her bed at night. This went on for quite awhile. Soon, it wasn't just beside her bed anymore - it actually followed her around the house!

I sleep upstairs. I used to be able to sleep with all the lights off in my room too, but more than once I've been awakened by someone standing beside my bed. Thinking it's one of my kids going to wake me up to tell me they're sick, or had a bad dream, I call out their names, and no one is there. The last time I slept in the dark, I felt someone patting me on the leg. I thought is was my daughter, and when I opened my eyes, no one was there! Since I've been sleeping with a night light on, I haven't felt anything in my room. (And I won't sleep in the dark anymore!) One night, my youngest son was going to the kitchen for a snack and saw my mom walking down the hallway to her room. And our cat, Benny, also saw or felt something. If you were holding him, he'd suddenly perk up his ears, look around, and run into my moms room, and stay there awhile. All of us have heard footsteps going up and down the stairs. Recently, I was in the basement doing laundry when I heard footsteps walking down the hall and into the kitchen. Thinking it was my oldest son coming home from work, I called out to him. When I got upstairs, I called again... he wasn't there. I was all alone in the house! Could this be my parents watching over us?
