Spooklights Somewhere near Hurley, Wisconsin and the upper peninsula of Michigan, a few miles from an Indian casino. is a location where spooklights occur. A friend drove me there one summer eve. Being unpopulated, on a gravel road, directions are unmarked, but there is a large sign at a crossroads that describes the phenomenon, telling the tale of a train wreck near old railroad tracks and children where supposed to have died. At least 50 people were sitting in their cars or had even brought lawn chairs, to wait for the nightly occurrence, which usually came around 10 or so. Sometimes it did not happen. There were no street lights, no outside lights from homes, area was all woods. I guess it had been ruled out as far as oncoming headlights because there were not any other roads around. They said a glowing light would appear, which seemed to be about a mile down the tracks. As it got closer to the time, everyone went and stood beside the tracks, and sure enough, a light began to glow. However, suddenly another light appeared next to it and it looked like it was moving towards us. The group became afraid and ran to their cars and left. I was more influenced by their response and joined them, although I would have liked to have stayed to see how near they would have come. My friend said it is especially eerie if you go in November, because there are not any other persons there, and it is so dark. < Previous story | Next story >
