Dowsing Success
by Jan R.

Like most people, I was VERY skeptical about dowsing for most of my life. My dad and grandfather both did it, but I thought it was hogwash first class! Then, when my son was about 10, I was telling him about it. He wanted to try it, so we cut a willow fork and he tried. It went down so fast at one point it skinned all the bark off the willow fork! I still didn't believe it. He handed it to me and said, "Here, you try it." I did... still not believing it would work. I got to the same spot he had been, and I could NOT hold that forked willow branch up! It went straight down! We now both use hunks of welding rod, and so do his three daughters, aged 9, 6, and 3! And we have, all of us, found really good water many times. We do not charge for finding it, since the "gift" was given to us free.

There are several "perks" to being able to dowse too. One of the most important is that you can see the Nature Spirits who exist all around us. When our granddaughters say they "believe in fairy people," it's because they've seen them! The Nature Spirits seem to follow us around when we are using the rods. They look rather like various heights of flowing Saran Wrap... only in all colors of the rainbow, and in black as well as clear. Nifty! Of course, you'll never get the majority of people to believe that either! We don't even try. But talk to some real dowsers and they'll all tell you the same thing: There is more to dowsing than finding water!
