Father Still Watches
by Angela

My family history is one of riddled with disease and the like. One of the most common causes of death in my family is cancer and heart attack. The youngest being my uncle who had a heart attack in his mid-20s. My father was also riddled with this. Prior to his death he had countless heart attacks, pre-warnings, until his final one, resulting in death, only a few years ago. Since his death I have had a number of things occur to me, that I think is a result of him keeping an eye on us.

The first. I had been requested for service in East Timor. I had been missing my husband, who ironically enough was serving in Bogainville at the time, and my children, whom I had to leave with my mother to make this trip. With Timor being very dry and dusty, carrying a weapon loaded weapon around all day and with night watches hanging over my head, I was very tired and disenchanted with the place very quickly. To cheer me up, my mother whom was still grieving from the loss of my father, sent some photos of my son and daughter. Now prior to my father dying he had not seen my new born son, and aware that I had been told I am going to East Timor, he had made plans to stay home and be "Mr. Mum" while sending my mother off to work instead of him. All of this time telling my mother that she had had her turn at looking after us grown up children, now it was his turn to look after the grandchildren. His grandchildren meant everything to him, and anytime spent with them was not enough. Obviously, he had not been able to do this due to his untimely death. Now when I finally left to go to East Timor, my son was only seven months old. Mum had taken a photo of my son with his auntie and cousin sitting on the sofa at their home. There was a very large bay window, with light brown curtain hanging from it that was at the front of the house, and they were closed, it was still just daylight outside. Now purely out of curiosity I decided to take a closer look at this photo. The only reason I did this was because I had frequented your website when I had a little time to myself and looked at photos that you had posted there. Hoping to find a picture with some sort of ghostly figure or orb, I was not to be disappointed. There in the top right hand corner was a picture of my father's face. I was absolutely shocked. I looked at the photo again to make doubly sure. He was still there. I instantly outlined the ghostly father head with biro and promptly sent it back to my mother with a letter explaining why I had defaced the picture. My mother was just as shocked as I.

The second. Now I do not claim to be psychic, but quite often I have dreams that predict was is going to happen in the future, and sure enough 90% of the time they come true. Well this one particular dream was unusual. For a long period of time I had been trying to convince my mother that is was time to stop grieving and make a move to start again. She kept holding back making excuses why she should not go.

After one particular night of trying to convince her, I lay down in bed not long after. Trying to settle down for the night. I do not know what time it was but it was early hours of the morning when I finally woke up. I had dreamt about my father. He was being very persistent in trying to convince me to convince my mother to make the move. Things would be better for her if she up and left to start anew. I kept at my mother not telling here any details of what had happened. Finally not long after the dream, We booked ticket for the Ship and on she sailed.

When my mother finally found some where to live after spending a period of time at our home. We moved her in and everything was good. By this time I had completely forgotten about the dream and we all moved on. Now again I dreamt of my father. This time he was very happy and was thanking me for convincing my mother to move. My mother now is going back to school and is enjoying a new life.
