The
Old Ghost
by Chrisi
There has always been a ghost around our family, ever since my sister was born, but for some reason I'm the one who can see him. Well, one night I got a really good look at him, and this is what happened:
We had gotten a dog, one of those Mastiffs, who seemed really sweet at first, but after a while she started nipping people. At first we didn't really think any thing of it; we'd scold her and then go back to doing whatever. After a while, nipping turned into biting, and one night my little sister tried to climb into bed with me,and the dog always slept in my room. When my little sister came to get into bed with me, the dog attacked.
My little sister started screaming, so I got up and turned on the light. My parents rushed in, my mom looked at my the bite and bruises were already starting to form. My dad got angry and said the dog had to go. Fine.
Later that night, the dog started to whine. I thought, "What now?" I rolled over to look at her and right where I was looking was an older man that I could see right through! It freaked me out! I looked at him for a minute. He was older, had a beard and was standing like he was angry. He was looking right at the dog. He was wearing a Confederate uniform and holding gloves in his hand. I rolled over and pretended I never saw him.
The next morning, the dog was scheduled to be taken to the previous owner. Everyone was mad and upset. So we hooked a dog chain up to her collar and tied her up in back. Later that day, the dog started barking and whining. She was mostly my responsibility so I went out to check on her. When I went into the backyard, I stopped. There standing by the tree was the old ghost I had seen the night before. I gasped and then he looked at me and disappeared.
Now we have a new dog and the old ghost doesn't seem to mind her... even though I see the dog look at something and whimper, he doesn't seem to mind her at all.
