This story is ongoing for me. If I sound a bit paranoid, please forgive me, but the truth is far more terrifying for me than any lie I could concoct.
It all started when I was about 10. One of my friends had come to stay the night with me. After playing for a while in our den, my parents sent us to bed. My bedroom is next to the farthest room back in the house with my bed facing the door out into the hall (this will be important). Despite our protests, we decided to go ahead and hit the sack.
When we crawled into bed, we were talking instead of sleeping as many kids do. It was about 9:30 at night when we saw "it." My father and mother were in our den at the other end of the house conversing (we could hear them). We both got very cold and looked up toward my door and saw a shadow, six-foot tall, come out of the back room and walk up to my door. It then turned, looked at us with its glowing red eyes and proceeded down the hallway toward the den. My friend and I tried to scream with all our might, but it was as though our voices had been shoved down deep in our throats. This incident terrified my friend, and he will talk about it today, but only to a select few people he can trust not to think him insane.
I figured that this was a one-time deal. But it wasn't.
My mother has seen the same shadow standing at the end of the hall facing her, glowing red eyes and all. My father has seen the shadow and been terribly scared, although he refuses to admit it (I saw him panic as he entered the hallway). An invisible force knocks on the doors inside the house. My mom was in her bedroom, me in the back room. I heard a loud crash, but paid no attention to it. She then came running out of her bedroom and yelled at me to stop scaring her like that. I was in the back room the whole time.
Perhaps one of the scariest things that has happened recently was when I saw the shadow in the hallway disappear around one corner. Immediately afterward, a pale white arm pointed from the shadow's location to a spot in the floor. This terrified me, but then it got worse the next day. My parents were gone to look at real estate, and I was by myself. I went into our living room (next to the back room across from my bedroom) to play the piano for a while. As soon as I stepped in the room, I distinctly heard a voice, gruff and masculine, say my name. Right then, the shadow appeared in the corner of the room.
Like I said at the beginning, this is a continuing phenomenon. I have seen the shadow at the end of aisles in Wal-Mart, sitting in my truck when I go to leave school, and even in other people's houses. Most people find this story to be hard to believe, a mere over-active imagination. It is not. I am a completely sane Christian man. The reason I chose to share my story now is that the most terrifying event took place two days ago.
I had left a friend's house after a card game and was on my way home. As I rounded the corner of the street toward my house, I got so cold that I could not even grip the steering wheel for shaking. Next to me in the truck appeared the shadow, sitting as though it was going home with me. I yelled (obviously) and turned my interior lights on after swatting the air in its direction. I missed hitting a light pole by three inches. I am very scared because I don't know what this thing is and I don't know why it harasses me and my family.
