Floating White Ghost
by Tima Way

When I was around the age of 10 or 11, my dad told us (my brother, two sisters and my mom) about ghost stories that came from his home-town in Mexico. My dad was born in Aguascalientes, Jalisco. One of these particular stories was one about my grandpa and his experience with the paranormal.

Back in the day around the year 1965 when my dad was only 5 or so, my dad and his family lived practically in the middle of nowhere. They had to drive about five miles just to go visit a neighbor. Along the side of my dad's house was a brick wall that stood nearly 20 feet high that stretched out about a mile or so until it reached the house, so my dad and his family felt pretty safe from robbers or any of the sort. One day my dad had to use the restroom at around 10 p.m. and the outhouse was about 5 meters from their house, so since he had to go that bad, my grandmother took him outside to go at a nearby tree. When my dad was getting ready to go back into the house with my grandma, he saw what looked like a lady in a white floating gown or dress. He was obviously scared since it was pitch black and ABSOLUTELY no one was around except for my grandma (whose back was turned). My dad gasped and called for my grandmother, who ran over to him and covered his eyes with her shawl, and while praying ran back into the house with him.

About an hour later, my grandfather ran into the house white as snow and stared at my grandmother. Then he simply passed out. The next day when he awoke, he explained to my grandmother that on his way home he began to smoke a cigar, and out of nowhere he heard someone say, "Hey, would you light my cigar for me? I don't have a lighter." My grandpa obviously jumped since there were no streetlights and everything was pitch-black. The voice slightly laughed and said, "Don't worry, my friend, I just jumped over the wall" Well, my grandfather was feeling a little better from the scare and agreed to lighting this person's cigar as well. Now back in the day you had to really work your behind off to light one of those things, since it was pretty much a spark lighter that he was trying ignite. When he finally did light it, he turned to where the man's voice was coming from and dropped his lighter, for the "man" had the face of a decaying corpse. Half of his face was decaying with maggots and all that stuff. The "man" began to laugh an evil laughter and my grandfather ran as fast as he could to try to get into the house. Fortunately for him, he wasn't that far from his home and was able to make it in on time. Why this thing appeared to my grandpa, I don't know. I guess I'll leave that to you to try and figure out.
